Saralea Clark of Phoenix, Arizona passed way in San Diego, California on December 11, 2017.
Saralea was born in Crawfordsville Indiana on October 12, 1936, the only child of Mary Ellowene Young (nee Thompson) and Landville Brown Young. She was raised in Kokomo Indiana and Roachdale Indiana. She graduated from Roachdale High School and went on to graduate from Indiana University’s nurses training program as a registered nurse. She completed advanced training in Chicago to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
Saralea married her childhood best friend-for-life and soul mate, Phillip Clark in 1960. They were happily married until his death in 1993. Over the course of Phillip’s career as an Air Force officer/pilot, they lived in Indiana, California, Louisiana, Alaska, Turkey, Idaho, New Zealand and Arizona.
Following Phillip’s retirement, Saralea enjoyed a challenging career as a CRNA, retiring in 2009 from the Maricopa Medical Center Hospital in Phoenix after 23 years of service working the night shift. She took great pride in her work and patient care.
In retirement Saralea enjoyed reading (histories and mysteries), spending time with friends, and doting on her granddaughter.
She is survived by her children: Phillip, Kerri and Teal; granddaughter: Morgan Morrison; son-in-law: Peter Morrison; daughter-in-law: Joyce Clark; dogs: Tippi and Lilly.
Saralea was kind and generous to her family, friends and neighbors. She had a sharp wit and a puckish sense of humor. In her last year facing dementia, she was brave beyond measure. In the course of her life, she rescued many dogs.
Graveside service will be 10:00 AM, Monday, July 2, 2018 at Roachdale Cemetery with Pastor David Bower officiating.
