Marie Steele, 52 of Ladoga passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019 at her residence with her family by her side, just fifteen hours later her father-in-law Jack Steele followed her to Heavens gates. She was born on March 8, 1967 in Crawfordsville, Indiana to Adrian and Shirley Ann (Bennett) Sparks. On June 28, 1984 she married Jackie Steele at Ladoga Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Jackie Steele of Ladoga; brother, Mark Sparks of New York; her niece; Tanikka Sparks of Crawfordsville, nephews; Shane, Kyle and Tyler (Katie) Davis, Ladoga, her very dear mother-in-law, Darlene Steele, Ladoga, and sister-in-law, Donna (Mike) Davis, Ladoga, sister-in-law Marilyn Webb, Warsaw, brother-in-law, Donnie Steele , Ladoga, several other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, many cousins, special aunts and uncles; Layton and Sharon Sparks, Crawfordsville, Charles and Vicki Sparks, Crawfordsville, best friends; Howard and Becky Ambrose and their children, Samantha and Wesley.
She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, Floyd and Ruth Bennet, and Delbert and Vessie (Purdue) Sparks.
Marie was a member of the Ladoga Baptist Church. She graduated from Southmont High School. She worked at Dairy Queen in Crawfordsville, the laundry mat service in Ladoga, Houston Heath Care, and then J & D Tree Surgery for the last 36 years.
To many in Montgomery County who knew Marie she was the voice of the girl in the tree for
J & D Tree Surgery. Those in the county and surrounding area never knew what she looked like, but they recognized “Good morning, you have reached J & D Tree Surgery. We are unavailable because we are up a tree right now. Please leave a message and we’ll get back with you as soon as possible, when we come down out of this tree.”
She loved the children and she followed so many children there in Ladoga into their adult life. Oh the joy her great niece Karson brought and she so looked forward to the arrival of her great nephew Levi.
Her hobbies included flowers, working in the yard, a very exceptional care giver, spoiling her nieces and nephews, riding four wheelers, and spending time with family and friends
Funeral Services will be 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at the Ladoga Baptist Church, 751 North Cherry Street, Ladoga, IN 47954 with Pastor Tyler Davis officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. the day of the service. Burial will follow at Stoner Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be given to Karson and Levi for their education.
