Eddie “Ed” Lee Highlander, 72, of Frankfort, entered into Heaven surrounded by his family Sunday, March 31, 2019. He was born on September 22, 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Ernest E. and Luella Mae (Park) Highlander. On July 24, 1965 in Cincinnati, he married Emma Jean (Stetler) Highlander. She survives.
Ed graduated High School from God’s Bible School in 1965. He worked as a truck driver for over thirty years. Later he and Emma owned and operated Emma’s Pizzeria, in Frankfort. He also was a caretaker of the Wesleyan Campground for several years. Ed enjoyed golf, airplanes, (which he flew solo fulfilling a lifelong dream,) computers, and electronics. He also thoroughly enjoyed Southern Gospel Music, which he hosted a radio show, Gospel Harmony on WILO Radio in Frankfort. Enjoying music, he served as the music director at Colfax Wesleyan Church for twenty years, and most recently at Hope Community Church where he was a member for the past thirteen years.
He is survived by his wife Emma Highlander, Frankfort, Son, Scott (Kathryn) Highlander, Frankfort, sister, Sandra Sexton, Frankfort, sister-in-law Emily Highlander, Batavia, Ohio, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces, and nephews, and special granddaughter, Amy Brown-Alther, Tipton.
He was preceded in death in by his parents, Ernest and Luella Highlander, brother Ernest Highlander Jr, and one grandchild.
His Homegoing Celebration will be 11:00 AM, Friday, April 5, 2019 at Hope Community Church 665 West 375 North Lebanon, Indiana 46052 with Pastor Paul Wireman, Rev. Billy Watts and Pastor Bob Trafford officiating. Friends may gather for a time of visitation 3:00PM-8:00PM on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the church. Memorial Contributions in Ed’s memory may be made to Hope Community Church.
